ORGANIZING YOUR DESKTOP ICONS



ICONS are small pictures on the desktop which represent programs on the computer.
As computer users continue to install new applications and saving files and other documents on the desktop, icons will also increase in numbers on the desktop. Displaying many icons on the desktop is all that bad but sometime users face one or two problems such as deleting useful icon accidentally and uneasy to locate desire icons on the desktop.
Solving this problem will enhance the beauty of your desktop and also
searching desire icon will be easy.
So let us start, it is very simple.

STEPS TO ORGANIZING DESKTOP ICONS

STEP 1: Create four (4) folders and name them accordingly.
 E.g. name Folder 1, 2, 3 and 4 with M_PLAYERS, APPLICATIONS, MS_OFFICE, and FOLDERS respectively.

 STEP 2: Select and drag or move icons to the related folder.
 
E.g. select and move:
MOVE ICONS
TO FOLDER
All media players such VLC, K player ,Gom player etc
M_PLAYERS
All program icons: Power iso, Adobe R, M fire fox, Mavis Beacon
APPLICATIONS
Word, excel, power point etc
MS_OFFICE
Other folders and file on the desktop
FOLDER

STEP 3: Refresh the desktop.
Note don’t move the default icons such as Computer and Recycle bin folder

CUSTOMIZE ICONS
You can change the default look of your icon.
STEPS

  • 1.     Right click on the desire icon to be change
  • 2.     Select properties
  • 3.     Click customize tab
  • 4.     Click on change icon tab
  • 5.     Choose your desire icon from the displayed dialog box. Or browse to your icon folder if any (***.ico files)
  • 6.     Click on Apply tab then OK.
Note you can customize folder at any time either before or after organizing your icons. It also works in windows box.
