INFORMATION and COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (I.C.T.)

I.C.T as subject can be define as the study and uses of the computer and it equipment to produce  information. Examples of computer equipment includes
camera, telephone, printer and  all kinds of I.C.T tools

WHAT IS INFORMATION ?

Information come from the English word inform. To inform means to tell, narrate, or report a story to somebody. 

Therefore information is defined as something told OR
Idea about something or somebody.

NB: Technically information is referred to as processed Data.

SOURCE OF INFORMATION

This means, where we get the information from. We can get information from many different source or ways  such as the following below:

• People:  Our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters teachers, pastor, etc can give us information
•  News:  we listen to Radios and TVs news for information in the form of News Broadcasting
• Letters: we write letters to friends and family members to give them information
• Films:   When we  watch films  we get information from them
• Music:  When we listen to music it give us information
•  News papers we Information get information whenever we read any of the daily News papers.
• Books and Magazine: We story books sch as the Bible and other books for information.

      COMMUNICATION

Communication simply means sharing or exchanging ideas or information. Example: To write or talk to somebody.

FORMS OF COMMUNICATION

The forms of communication are the various ways in which communication can take place. These are:

•  Verbal Communication: E.g. talking, crying, singing  and teaching
• Written communication: E.g. Letters, class exercise, Posters, Signs, etc
•  Body Language: E.g. Smiling, winking, Beckoning, handshaking, clapping, etc

TECHNOLOGY

Technology is the uses of machines and equipment to work. Technology helps us to do our work easier and faster. E.g. Using Washing machines help us to wash our clothes faster.

  

I.C.T TOOLS

What is a tool ?

A tool is something or a device we used to do our work faster and easy. Tools are grouped into many categories’ base on their function. (Especially where and how each tool is used) for example

• Farm tools :cutlass rake axe ho
• Bathing  the sponge, soap, bucket, etc
•  Kitchen tools, spoon, ladle, knife, etc

Knowing this, it will be simply for you to understand what ICT TOOLS are.

ICT TOOLS are devices which we used to process and share (send and receive) information.

Mobile phone, radio set, laptop or desktop computer thermometer, calculator, etc are all examples of ICT tools.

ICT tools can also refer to as technology tools
